4. Hanging Toiletry Bag

Now that your hot iron and wet toothbrushes are packed away nicely, you will love something bigger for the rest of your toiletries. This bag designed by Infarrantly Creative is the perfect solution. The bag hangs on the back of the bathroom door of your hotel room or ship cabin, then rolls up conveniently into your suitcase.

5. Packing cubes

Travel accessories to sew - packing cubes

These are one of my favorite travel accessories and I want to thank Melissa from Melly Sews for showing me how to make my own.  Packing cubes are like little drawers in your suitcase.  Organize your clothes by category, outfits or weather.  They create more space in your bag by compressing your items and make packing and finding items so much easier.

6. Duffel bag

Need a place to put it all. My sister site, Nana’s Favorites recently posted a FREE pattern link to this duffel bag that has gone VIRAL. A free pattern is available for easy sewing.

Travelling by car?

How about a couple organizers for both the driver and the passengers.

7. Console organizer

Keep everything you need handy – and organized – in the car with this sweet little bag! This organizer holds your phone and the cords, a couple pens, and anything else you may want to toss in there quick while driving. The back has a zipper pocket for your money or credit cards. The pattern along with a tutorial can be found on Sew Can She.

8. Over the seat organizer

Need to keep the kids occupied? This Over the Seat Organizer keeps toys and activities close at hand. The Sewing Pixies show you how easy it is to make with all those pockets to hold everything your child could need for a Road Trip!

Taking a plane?

Get yourself organized for your flight with these two easy to make travel accessories.

9. Luggage tags

Had enough of searching for your luggage? Make something unique so you can identify your bag. Laura Jane makes it simple with these easy-to-follow instructions. And they are a great way to use those smaller pieces of fabric in your stash.

10. Passport holder

Sew Very Crafty shared this passport wallet and I absolutely love this design because this passport wallet holds two passports, your identification and credit cards as well as a phone and money all in one place.

Whether you are travelling by car or plane, I hope you get a chance to make a few of these travel accessories before you go. And most of these accessories make great gifts for the traveler on your list.

  1. Lots of good ideas you have there. I have a few of the things you mention (neck pillow, flat iron case, and the hanging toiletry bag) but of course I didn’t make them, I had to buy them. I’m not that talented when it comes to sewing.
