Quilt alongs are popular in the online quilting community, and they’re fun and inspirational to participate in! Also called “Block of the Month” and “Mystery Quilt” clubs, a typical quilt-along involves a host who posts on a blog or website each week or month. Quilters then complete a project by following along.
There are so many “Block of the Month” and “Mystery Quilt” clubs and quilt-alongs this year, I could go on for days. But here you will find links to a few of the most popular. Don’t forget to bookmark the page as Nana will add more as she finds them!!

Moda Fabric’s 8th Annual Charity Quilt is Serendipity. This QAL runs from February 1 to June 1. The way the fundraiser works is that the Fat Quarter Shop offers FREE downloads during the event for a suggested donation of $5 each t the Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas campaign.
To make a quilt just like this one, you’ll need the Serendipity Quilt Kit and Serendipity Backing Set, available only at Fat Quarter Shop.
Sugar Bear is a sampler quilt using a modern version of a bear claw block. The quilt measures 70″ square. Runs March 17 through to June 30 and includes video tutorials if you get stuck!
If you like Murder Mysteries, The Murder Mystery Quilt club is a monthly subscription club that reads along together and stitches up a quilt to find clues and solve the murder. This is a mystery quilt in the traditional sense–you sew a block each month and the overall design of the quilt isn’t revealed until all the blocks are sewn–but it’s also a MYSTERY quilt: each month, along with the block pattern and design, you receive a chapter of a mystery story. Each chapter reveals clues as the plot unfolds, and it’s your job to seek out whodunit! Registration for 2021 closes February 10.
Using the colors found in fruits and veggies, this easy to follow QAL uses fabrics from your stash (you can buy new if you like). Great for beginners because each monthly pattern includes video tutorials on how to make the blocks.
PEACE AND LOVE BLOCK OF THE MONTH
This quilt consists of 12 blocks and each block will be released on the 1st of each month. The setting instructions will be released on January 1, 2022.
Moda Fabrics is continously offering quilt alongs. Head to the calendar to find one you like. Once the QAL has started, click the “Quilt-alongs” links under the “Inspiration+Resources” menu item to be directed to the blog posts for that particular QAL! Here are two examples that start in January.
