WHO IS NANA?

I’m Nana K and for years I have been fascinated with creating.  Although sewing, quilting and crocheting are my main areas of creativity,  I also love to paint and am willing to try any sort of crafts.

Since I’ve been retired, I have become the grandmother of eight grandchildren that I adore.  Making gifts for them and teaching them to make and love their creations is very satisfying.  

Now, I would like to share that love with you.

This website is divided into sections:  Sewing – Quilting – Crochet – Other Crafts.  When the projects are easy or contain how-to lessons, they are also included in the beginner series.

Each category has a page entitled “Basics” that summarizes the tips published for that category as well as basic terminology and techniques used in the posts.  Simply use the drop down in the menu to find additional items relating to that category. If you come across something you would like to know about, please leave me a comment on the blog post.  We will include answers to  common FAQ’s in that category.  For example, if you have a quilting question and can’t find an answer in the “Quilting Basics” page, check the Quilting FAQ’s.  If the answer is not there, please ask!!!

BEGINNER SERIES

If you are ready to dive into the world of creating, but don’t know where to begin, I have written a number of articles to start you off. If the projects are considered easy for beginners to make, they will be included in the list.

SEWING

In the SEWING section, you will find my free patterns, links to other fabulous projects and much more.  

QUILTING

Several years ago, I became passionate about quilting.  Armed with a new machine, I have been creating quilts for the whole family.  I love to make my own designs and offer free patterns for all to share.  

Nana also keeps a list of current quilt alongs. You can find links to block of the month, mystery quilt clubs and quilt alongs in the list. If you have any to add, please send me an email.

CROCHET

I recently starting crocheting for babies again after taking a break of several years.  I find it fun and a great winter activity! 

In 2019, we hosted a Learn to Crochet series where we made an afghan from the 30 stitches we learned. Even though the crochet along has ended, you may start the series at any time and work at your own pace.

As with the quilts, Nana also keeps a list of crochet alongs (CALs) . You can find links to various crochet alongs in the list. Please send me an email if you have any to add,

OTHER CRAFTS

I love to paint and have been painting furniture.  I love to make toys and decorations for kid’s rooms.  And I am willing to try anything creative.  Follow me when I work on projects beyond the scope of familiarity.
