With the festive season fast approaching, it’s time to stock up on gift ideas for your loved ones! Nana is here to help.
One of my favorite places to shop is Etsy. If you have never checked out Etsy, you really should. Etsy offers one of a kind, hard to find items from independent sellers including unique handmade gifts as well as some fabulous items for crafters of all kinds.
For over 20 years Pantone searches the world to select their annual Color of the Year. They analyze the color trends that are popping up among many industries. These include fashion, design, lifestyle trends, and social media platforms. They also look at art, entertainment and technology. Combined with various new materials, textures, and effects that impact color they create the Pantone Color of the Year.
What’s Nana Making utilizes affiliate programs for monetization, which means when you click on links to various products that I recommend and make a purchase, this can result in a commission that is credited to this site. Please be sure to read our Privacy Policy
I just finished reorganizing my Etsy Favorites and would love to share them with you! I recently found a fabulous feature on Etsy called “Lists”. If you love using Pinterest, you will like Etsy lists. Lists allows you to save your Etsy favorites into separate categories (as many as you want). So you can add a list for patterns, supplies, gifts……you could even separate those lists into gifts for mom, patterns for kids, and more!!!
If you have never checked out Etsy, you really should. Etsy offers one of a kind, hard to find items from independent sellers. You can find out more in my previous posts about what crocheters will find on Etsy and why quilters will love Etsy. I have also included a lot of Etsy products in my gift lists!!
Did you even know there was such a thing as World Sleep Day!! I love it! A celebration of sleep. Who wouldn’t want to cozy up and sleep for a full day.
Aw – but what are you sleeping in?? Whether you like to wrap up in a cozy quilt or warm afghan, snuggle with a soft pillow or lounge in those comfy PJ’s, Nana has a DIY that can make your sleep heavenly!
Christmas is fast approaching and if you haven’t started your Christmas shopping, here are a few stocking stuffers for the quilters you may have on your list.
All of these items are unique and available from ETSY.
If you can sew a straight line, you can make a rag quilt.
Rag quilts sew together quickly, are fun and unique and make great gifts! A favorite among my family. We call them “TV blankets” because they are great for cozying up on the couch to watch your favorite flick.
No special quilting skills are required and you can make one in a weekend (or less)!
This is the seventh of a ten part series which will teach you the basics of quilting from choosing fabric to displaying the finished product and everything in between. It is meant to help make that special quilt even more fantastic. This post is all about making your quilt “sandwich” by adding the batting and backing.
So you have decided to quilt your quilt yourself. By hand or on your domestic sewing machine. The quilt top has been sewn and is looking lovely. Now is the time to add your batting and backing and create your quilt “sandwich”.
Part Seven will guide you through the process of choosing your batting and backing, then putting your three layers together so they are ready to be quilted.
How Nana Discovered an Easier Way to Quilt Before Adding Borders
If you send your quilts off to the long-armer after creating your quilt top, you probably won’t get anything out of this post, but if you’re like Nana and quilt your own quilts – This method is for you!! Make machine quilting much easier by quilting BEFORE you add your border.
Nana quilts her own quilts on her regular sewing machine. As you know, the heavier the quilt, the harder it is on your shoulders, neck and arms. You are going to love this method of adding your border AFTER you quilt your quilt!!
This is the fifth of a ten part series which will teach you the basics of quilting from choosing fabric to displaying the finished product and everything in between. It is meant to help make that special quilt even more fantastic. This post is all about sewing your quilt top.
You’ve purchased your supplies, found the pattern and fabric that you love and have cut out your shapes according to the pattern directions. It is now time to sew all those little pieces together.
In this part, Nana will give you some tips on seam allowances, pressing as you go and ways to sew faster.
Have you ever shopped on Etsy? Nana does – a lot! I was recently asked what I buy on Etsy and decided to write this post on Why Quilters Love Etsy.
